Visatron VN115/87 Plus Oil Mist Detection System
This Oil Mist Detection System by Visatron i.e; Visatron VN115/87 Plus is used on both 2- and 4-stroke engines. It consists of a Detection System that acts as a switch. Along with Oil Mist development, when any dangerous friction situation is detected, an alarm signal is released which is provided to the alarm and safety system of the ship. Then depending on the classification rules and engine purpose the engine will either be stopped immediately or switched into a slow down mode.
A header-suction-tube system is used by the Visatron VN115/87 Plus for this purpose. In the middle, between two header-suction-tube sections that are located on the engine sides, the Oil Mist Detector is positioned. These tubes have a throttling effect and are thinner than the header-suction-tube.

Visatron VN115/87 Plus EX Oil Mist Detector
The Visatron VN115/87 Plus EX is an Oil Mist Detector and is designed such that it monitors 4-stroke diesel, gas, and dual-fuel engines. This Oil Mist Detector by Visatron is ATEX certified for crankcase environments according to II (2G) [Ex op is II B T 4 G b]. An alarm signal is sent to the Visatron VN115/87 Plus Ex OMD when any dangerous amount of oil mist is generated.

Visatron VN115/93 Oil Mist Detection System
The Visatron VN115/93 is an Oil Mist Detector manufactured with a basic design that is suitable for monitoring trunk piston diesel engines with in-line and V cylinder arrangements, which are running at medium and high speed. The detection of damage is done through a header pipe sampling system without the localization of the point of damage.
The atmospheric mixture from the crankcase passes from all individual compartments via header pipe through the detector's pipe connector box into the opacity measurement path in the housing of the measuring head. The threshold of alarm can be set to 4 levels, in a range from 1,5% to 5,0% opacity.

Visatron VN116/87 Plus Oil Mist Detection System
Due to the differential alarm level, the Visatron VN116/87 Plus is more sensitive compared to the Visatron VN115/87. This product of the Visatron series compares the concentration of the oil mist from each side of the header-suction-tube section and responds when there is a difference. This shows the sure sign for overheating damage in the compartment group with the higher opacity.
A differential alarm level is carried along with regard to its sensitivity relating to the 4-stage adjustment of the alarm level. In order to measure the opacity differential, the sample flow of both the header-suction-tube sections is fed to the turbidimetric channel one after the other by closing the respective tube sections alternately by means of reed valves. The opacity values and the execution of the opacity comparison both are saved by the microprocessor. If the engine is running fine, in the base configuration, both the valves are open to monitor all compartments at the same time.

Visatron VN116/93 Oil Mist Detection System
The Visatron VN116/93 is an Oil Mist Detector that is designed with higher sensitivity. The monitoring of the trunk piston diesel engines with in-line and V-cylinder arrangements which are running both at medium and high speed can be suitably detected by this oil mist detection system.
The system can easily detect the damages done through a header pipe sampling system with a display of the crankcase compartment half in which the overheating damage has taken place. The sampling system via header pipe is similar to the Visatron VN115/93, so the VN116/93 can easily replace the VN115/93 without any further modifications.

Visatron VN215/87 Plus Oil Mist Detection System
When it comes to a high oil mist alarm tripping the Visatron VN215/87 Plus operates in the same way as the Visatron VN 116/87 Plus. The Visatron VN215/87 Plus has the ability to indicate the suction point with the highest opacity, and thus the compartment in which the overheating damage has been done.
This Visatron oil mist detection system has a single-suction-tube system, and each compartment is connected by a separate tube to the valve box that is designed for 10 suction lines.
The compound opacity of the oil mist is continuously measured from all the compartments. A damage check will be executed if the opacity exceeds the damage check starting threshold. An alarm causes the automatic stop of the machine if the differential alarm level is exceeded, or a speed reduction will immediately be tripped, even if the search run is not yet terminated.

This Visatron VN215/93 Oil Mist Detector has the highest sensitivity. The product Visatron VN215/93 is best suited for the monitoring of crosshead engines that are running at medium and slow speeds. The reason behind this is that the oil mist spreads out slower from the damaged compartment, compared to trunk piston engines. The selection of damage goes through the individual compartment suction pipe system, with a display of the compartment with the overheating damage.
