DECKMA Hamburg OMD-24 Bilge Alarm

The DECKMA Hamburg OMD-24 Bilge Alarm is a precision oil content monitoring device installed in conjunction with oily water separator systems to continuously analyse treated bilge water before discharge.

During vessel operations, bilge water collected from machinery spaces may contain oil residues generated from engines, pumps, lubrication systems, and other onboard equipment. The OMD-24 helps operators monitor oil concentration levels and ensure discharge remains within permitted limits.

The system provides continuous measurement and clear alarm indication when oil content reaches the configured limit, allowing crew members to take immediate corrective action.

Kidde Graviner MK6 Oil Mist Detection System

The Kidde Graviner MK6 Oil Mist Detection (OMD) System is a marine-approved, analogue addressable oil mist detection system designed to continuously monitor crankcase oil mist concentrations in medium- and large-bore diesel engines. Developed specifically for the marine industry, the MK6 provides early warning of abnormal oil mist conditions that may result from overheating bearings, inadequate lubrication, mechanical wear, or other developing engine faults.

The QMI Atmospheric Oil Mist Detector (AOMD) is designed to continuously monitor airborne oil mist concentrations in engine rooms and machinery spaces, providing early warning of hazardous conditions before they develop into serious fire, explosion, or machinery safety risks.

Unlike conventional crankcase oil mist detectors that monitor oil mist inside an engine crankcase, an Atmospheric Oil Mist Detection System is designed to monitor the surrounding atmosphere within engine rooms and machinery spaces. This provides an additional layer of safety by helping detect suspended oil mist caused by oil leaks, overheating equipment, damaged lubrication systems, or other abnormal operating conditions.

SPECS Atmospheric Oil Mist Detector

The SPECS Atmospheric Oil Mist Detector (AOMD) is an advanced fixed oil mist detection solution designed for continuous monitoring of airborne oil mist in marine and industrial machinery spaces. The system helps detect abnormal oil mist concentrations at an early stage, enabling operators to take corrective action before hazardous conditions develop.

Oil mist can be generated by lubrication oil leaks, fuel systems, hydraulic equipment, mechanical failures, or oil coming into contact with high-temperature engine components. If not detected promptly, excessive oil mist can increase the risk of machinery fires, equipment damage, and unplanned vessel downtime.

The SPECS AOMD continuously monitors the surrounding atmosphere using advanced infrared optical detection technology. When oil mist concentrations reach preset alarm levels, the system provides rapid visual and audible alarm indications and can transmit signals to the vessel’s Integrated Automation System (IAS), Alarm Monitoring System (AMS), or Engine Control Room.
